Review and Rating: ***+ $$ Leeuwin Estate Art Series Riesling, 2005, Margaret River, Australia

The Leeuwin Estate Art Series Riesling, 2005, shows very light in the glass, with a tinge of yellow and green. The nose is mellow, funky, suggestive of minerals and slate.

The taste follows through, with a smooth, mineral-oil finish, adding flavors of slate in its full, round middle. This is paired with a good length finish. Three stars out of five with a plus for its intrigue for the future

91 points were awarded by Josh Raynolds of International Wine Cellar, who wrote, "Pale gold. Waxy, honeyed and minerally on the nose, with vibrant fruit notes of yellow apple, Bosc pear and white peach. Then quite broad on the palate, with a wide range of fruit flavors: Meyer lemon, ruby-red grapefruit, lime and white peach. Very dry and firm on the back end, with a refreshing hit of quinine adding refreshment. The crisp minerality carries impressively through the finish."
