Rating: ***+ $$ 2005 Stringtown Pinot Noir, Oregon

Review: In the glass, this Oregon pinot noir is medium red. Sleek, candy aromas come jumping out of the glass. On closer examination, the nose is of candied apple combined with laundry on a clothesline, flapping in the breeze near the shore; ie, pretty interesting. On the palate, the wine is round in the middle, bringing just a touch of earth to a sweet and modest finish. The flavor and finish doesn't fully deliver on the promise of the aromas, but it does rate a plus for that intriguing nose.
