Rating: ***+ 2003 Stolpman Vineyards Poetry in Red, Santa Ynez Valley, CA

Review: Poetry in Red is a mix of syrah, sangiovese and grenache varietals. It is brick red in the glass, with a mid-red fruity nose. Reminded me somehow of berries growing in a marshland - even though that's not where they normally grow!

On the palate, flavors of cocoa and chocolate came through. This struck me as a ready-sooner version of the Estate Syrah.

This wine was sampled as part of our brief expedition cruising Santa Ynez Valley.
