Rating: ***+ 2005 Foley Estates Pinot Noir, Clone 115, Santa Rita Hills, CA

Review: This pinot noir is sourced from two vineyard blocks, one 5.5 acres and the other 6 acres, from the Rancho Santa Rosa property.

In the glass, this shows as medium red burgundy in color. The aroma brings dark cherries along with a sweet cherry note. On the palate, this is a powerful pinot noir, full frontal in its fruit, pairing with noticeable earthy tannins, a full, nice middle, and a lingering finish. Quite delicious really.

This wine was sampled as part of our brief expedition cruising Santa Ynez Valley.
