Rating: **** 2005 Jack Creek Kruse Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir, Paso Robles, CA

Review: This Paso Robles pinot noir dares to take on the pinots of Santa Ynez Valley in a tasting room in the heart of Los Olivos. Well, let's see what it delivers.

In the glass, this is a medium, dark red with ruby glints. It's nose is clean and classically pinot noir. The palate brings just a bit of a sweet touch, filling the mouth with sugar, sawdust and pleasant tannins. The tannins help move the Jack Creek pinot noir into a nice, fulfilling finish, long and still just a bit sweet.

Outstanding overall... and at a reasonable price.

This wine was sampled as part of our brief expedition cruising Santa Ynez Valley.
