Rating: ****+ 2005 Presidio Artistic License Estate Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County, CA

Review: This is part of Presidio's high-end organically grown Artistic License line. The pinot noir is chosen from selected clones grown west of the Santa Rita Hills. In the glass, the Presidio pinot noir is mid-red with a slightly cloudy aspect. All concerns dissipate as soon as the wine touches the lips. Think sweet cherry in a cloud... riding a hot air balloon through dusty tannins... touching the essence of extracted cherries.

A bell-ringer of a pinot noir, and one I could stay with all day and evening.

This wine was sampled as part of our brief expedition cruising Santa Ynez Valley.
