Rating: **+ 2005 Stolpman Vineyards Rosato, Santa Ynez Valley, CA

Review: This unusual light red wine is a combination of estate syrah and sangiovese grapes developed in an unique manner. Skin contact is limited to a few hours. Indigenous yeasts are allowed to ferment the wine, which is aged briefly in neutral oak and bottled young.

The color of Stolpman's Rosato is a light pink berry color. Aromas come through with strong strawberry. The taste is an intriguing mix of fruit and sweetness and pleasant funk and mild creaminess.

This wine was sampled as part of our brief expedition cruising Santa Ynez Valley.
