Rating: **+ 2005 Zaca Mesa Roussanne, Santa Ynez Valley, CA

Review: Having tried only one other primarily roussanne blend before, I was interested to explore this single varietal bottling.

In the glass, this was a light pale with a slight green tinge. The aroma was slightly buttery, reminiscent of a classic oaked chardonnay, perhaps reflecting the sur lie aging. On the palate, this was soft, lush and spicy.

This wine was sampled as part of our brief expedition cruising Santa Ynez Valley.
