Sanford Winery's Santa Rita Hills vineyards are know for their Burgundian-style pinot noirs and white wines. The wine tasting room in Buellton is an eclectic little barn housing a friendly staff. My understanding is the tasting room will be moving closer to the vineyard and winery locations soon.

Coming as I do with a bias towards big, fat, multi-layered Aussie or Napa reds, I had to grow accustomed to the palate of the lighter, brighter Sanford-style wines. But it was an interesting an pleasant experience.
Listing from most to least favored, here are the wines I sampled at Sanford:
2005 Sanford La Rinconada Vineyard Chardonnay, Santa Rita Hills, CA
2005 Sanford Chardonnay, Santa Barbara County, CA
2005 Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Rita Hills, CA
2005 Sanford Pinot Grigio, Santa Barbara County, CA
2005 Sanford Pinot Noir - Vin Gris, Santa Barbara County, CA
2005 Sanford Pinot Noir, Santa Rita Hills, CA
2005 Sanford Sauvignon Blanc, CA
