Visiting Zaca Mesa Winery & Vineyards Tasting Room, Los Olivos, Santa Ynez Valley, CA

This visit was part of our brief expedition cruising Santa Ynez Valley.

We stopped by Zaca Mesa on a whim, drawn in by its grounds and surroundings. We were pleased for the visit, not just for the wines, but for the opportunity to enjoy the grounds as well.

Situated on Foxen Canyon Road in Los Olivos, Zaca Mesa offers not only a substantial tasting room experience (complete with keepsake Riedel crystal glass). It also offers a unique walk along a hill adjacent to the winery that allows an extraordinary 360-degree view of the valley and fields around.

Picnic tables are available along the 10-minute walk up the hill, and lunches may be purchased at the tasting room. An outstanding lunch-time opportunity!

Listing from most to least favored, here are the wines I sampled at Zaca Mesa:
2004 Zaca Mesa Z Cuvee, Santa Ynez Valley, CA
2005 Zaca Mesa Roussanne, Santa Ynez Valley, CA
2006 Zaca Mesa Estate Bottled Viognier, Santa Ynez Valley, CA
2003 Zaca Mesa Estate Bottled Syrah, Santa Ynez Valley, CA
