Rating: **+ 1999 Chateau Pajzos Tokaji, Aszu 5 Puttonyos, Hungary

Review: This Tokaji shows as a deep golden color in the glass. The aroma is some sweet blend of honey and oil. On the palate, it tastes like buzzing bees! That is, sweet honey and a buzzing effervescence of acidity. Quite a pleasant event; though not deep or intriguing.

Clearly, I'm in a minority in giving this a ho-hum, merely-pleasant review. By contrast, Wine Spectator raved about this wine, awarded 95 points and said the Pajzos was, "Racy and focused, showing lemon, orange and vanilla aromas and flavors underscored by a hint of earth and mineral. Light-bodied, with an intensity on the finish that almost makes it seem dry. Terrific finish."
