Rating: **+ $$$ 2005 Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir, Oregon

Review: Rainy summer evening. What better than an Oregon pinot noir?

Color is medium red with a hint of purple and brick. The brick is unusual for such a young wine - usually that only shows up with some age. On the nose, this has a taut, interesting aroma of clean laundry and fruit, suggesting a bright, tannic wine. On the palate, the tautness spreads across the mouth, delivering shy but noticeable fruit and a touch of dark oak in a fairly long-lived package. The finish, with a bit of dust plus a pucker, does keep pumping out fruit.

This wine is just a bit too meek for me to hurry back to it (which would have given it three stars), but nicer than a simple memory. So I'm adding a plus to its two stars.
