Rating: *** 2004 "2 Up" Shiraz, South Australia

Review:
This shiraz is from Helen and Kevin O'Brien, blended from various South Australia vineyards. The name, 2 Up, derives from an Australian gambling game.

Deep dark red with purple glints. Yummy, cream-plum aromas with dark overtones pumping slightly from the glass. On the palate, round, deep-but-still-bright plum fills the middle of your mouth, with slight acids and very easy tannins helping the flavors move to the corners of your mouth. Not a lot of layers. But a lot of "yum" if you like the simple big, bad, bold fruit.

Three stars out of five. Good quality for a very modest price.
