Rating: *** 2005 Nederburg Shiraz, Western Cape, South Africa

Review:
Coming from a winery with roots back to 1791, this is a single varietal shiraz. In the glass, it shows as deep red with just a hint of purple. Aromas are of fermented plum, touch of shoepolish. On the palate, the dark plums move through the mouth on a mild blanket of oak and tannins, with a pleasant round middle. A welcome, light acid helps with the modest finish. Very pleasant, even if somewhat simple experience. Three stars of five.
