Review and Rating: *** Foley Chardonnay, Rancho Santa Rosa, Santa Rita Hills, CA

Review: The Foley Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay hails from Santa Barbara County, one of a wide line of chardonnays in Bill Foley's well-regarded portfolio.

In the glass, this chardonnay is transparent with light yellow overtones. Clean, bold aromas of pear and apple lift from the glass. The palate is well-formed, sweet, oaked, lightly honeyed, with a crisp, bright lasting finish. I'd definitely come back and explore it again. Three stars out of five.

Robert Parker awarded 90 points to this Foley chardonnay and said, "The 2005 Chardonnay Rancho Santa Rosa exhibits restrained tropical fruits intermixed with a subtle peach character. There is an attractive underpinning of tart acidity, a hint of oak, and a complex personality. It should age well for 2-4 years."
