Rating: ** Sterling Vintner's Collection Merlot 2004, Central Coast, CA

Review:

In the glass, this moderately-priced Sterling merlot shows mid red with purple tones. There are mild grapey/oak aromas that you have to dig into the glass to inhale. By this point, because of the very shy aromas, I'm not expecting a lot.

On the palate, a spicy, round flavor touches the middle of your mouth. Oddly enough, it's reminiscent of concord grapes more than merlot. It wraps up in a brief finish. Two stars out of five.

  1. The Sterling Vintner's Collection Merlot is one of our favorite every day wines. The quality of the wine exceeds the price point. We were never into central coast wines until trying some of the Sterling Vineyards wines now we're hooked.
