Review and Rating: *** Cannery Row Chardonnay, 2005, CA

Review:
This is a bargain-priced California chardonnay obtained from the "Wine Insiders" series. The name derives from the John Steinbeck novel which was based in Monterey, California, as is the vintner.

In the glass, the Cannery Row Chardonnay is light and hay-colored. Its aroma is one of bright honey with hints of lemon and slate.

On the palate, this offers a clean simple, slightly citrus taste, with honey overtones. It ends balanced, with an overall lemony finish. In terms of ratings, I'm not quite sure I'd go for this again, but I'll still give it three stars out of five because, though shy, it is perfectly pleasant and nicely balanced.
