Review and Rating: *** $$$ Freycinet Chardonnay, 2006, Tasmania, Australia

Freycinet Vineyards are a well-regarded property in the island-state of Tasmania, part of Australia. Tasmania, to be sure, is known more for it's yachting, hiking and national parks than for its wines. (Amazing the number of regions in Australia that grow wine, though, isn't it?!)

The Freycinet Chardonnay is pale gold in the glass. Its aroma speaks of a classical style, slightly creamy oaked chardonnay.

The palate is an excellent balance of fruit, acids and sweetness, followed by a soft, reasonably lengthy finish. Could age. Three stars out of five.
