Review and Rating: ** Pillot Bourgogne Blanc, 2005,

This Pillot Bourgogne Blanc (white burgundy) is made entirely of chardonnay grapes from southern Burgundy. Don't think of California chardonnay when you try this wine.

In the glass, it is clear with a tiny hint of green. It's shy aromas speak of grass clippings. The taste brings forward an earthier grass - call it hay - along with a certain faint creaminess on the palate.

It is such a gentle, faint experience overall, I feel like my Aussie/Napa - oriented palate is missing much here. I'll give it two stars out of five, with a plus - because somehow, I know it is offering more than I can detect.
