Review and Rating: **+ Shelmerdine Yarra Valley Rose, 2006, Victoria, Australia

The Shelmerdine Yarra Valley Rose is made from pinot noir grapes in the Heathcote area of Victoria, Australia. I'll start with the caveat that I have seldom met a rose I've truly liked, but have agreed to give this one a try nonetheless.

In the glass, this is a gleaming, attractive deep salmon color. The nose demonstrates subtle pinot noir aromas, conmsistent with its composition.

On the palate, it is smooth and sweet right in the middle of your mouth, with very light acids prickling the sides. Very pleasant indeed, but neither complex nor particularly memorable. Two stars out of five, with a plus for extreme pleasantness.
