Review and Rating: **+ $$ Clos de Los Siete, 2006, Mendoza, Argentina

LIVE Review: This Close de Los Siete is an Argentian wine by famed winemaker Michel Rolland. In the glass it is a deep red. Aromas are earthy and fruity. On the palate, it is a pitched mid-red, bringing high fruit tones and noticeable acids. Two stars with a plus for old world aromas.

Jay Miller of Wine Advocate sure liked it more than me, giving 92 points and saying, " “The 2006 Clos de los Siete is a slightly different blend with 50% Malbec, 30% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Syrah. Opaque purple-colored, it has a similar expressive nose including fragrant plum, blueberry, and black cherry. Ripe, sweet, and seamless, it admirably hides its tannin under all the fruit. It will evolve for several years but who will have the willpower to defer gratification? It is an awesome value. Clos de los Siete is a project of Michel Rolland.”

  1. I tried this wine and found it very pleasing.

However the label on my bottle shows Melbec 45%, Merlot 35%, Cabernet 10%, Sharah 10%. Maybe a different Label. Maybe a different bottle.
