Review and Rating: Rutherford Hill Merlot, 2003, Napa Valley, CA

Review: The Rutherford Hill Merlot for 2003 is mid deep red in the glass. Aromas are bold, exhibiting black currant and oak.

On the palate, this merlot is round, with a first note of oak and purple fruit right smack in the middle. Substantial body. Clean tannins but a bit overextended with acid. Very decent length of finish. I'll come back to it. That's three stars, with a plus for its "comfort food" style.
