What a pretty label! A real departure from the classic d'Arenberg look.

In the glass, a deep, dark mahogany - almost opaque.
On the nose, ripe, oily, sweet plums, with a suggestion of pepper.
On the palate, a big, punching gob of deep, flavorful McLaren Vale fruit in the middle, expanding slightly with the pepper overtones on very tame acids. Overall, the mouth feel is one of a pooled oil slick, not really a vibrant, living creature. The pepper enlivens it. Finish is modest. I still award four stars out of five because I would likely remain with this as my choice for an evening.
Those of you without a new world palate, be forewarned. I predict it will be a disappointment to you.
As a friend 'o' de grape you may dig moi's lill' YouTube version of an ooooooooooold drinkin' song, you'll know the tune.
