Updated review: ***+ $$ Finnegan's Lake "Fin" Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005, CA

Original Review, February, 2008, three years from vintage date:

The "Fin" Finnegan's Lake Cabernet Sauvignon , 2005, is medium deep red in the glass.

Aromas are bold, serious, oaked and dark of fruit. Somewhat reminiscent to me of the intense cabernets of Napa's 1970's, similar to a prior tasting of Sarah's Blend.

On the palate, the fresh plum fruit is the first note, followed by an easy slip into a medium sweet finish of tannins and acids.

This time, I'm not quite sure that I'd linger for an entire evening with the wine, so I will award it three stars, with a plus for its incredible friendliness. Earlier, I awarded the 2004 vintage four stars.

Updated review, five and a half years later, now eight years from vintage date, October, 2013:  Similar color in the glass, although the nose has become much more subdued.  Still fresh plums on the palate, with a medium sweet finish.  Holding up very well to age.
