Review and Rating: *** $$ Cameron Hughes Lot 43 Dry Creek Zinfandel, 2005, Sonoma CA

Review: This is part of the Cameron Hughes limited availability, value-priced series. The Dry Creek Zinfandel is a mix of three zin lots, one syrah and one petit sirah. It is deep mahogany in the glass.

Aromas are powerful, pumping out spicy, deep fruit, with a black pepper component. On the palate, there is a twinkling of flavors all around your mouth - from peppery sparks on the top, to a floor of darker, lingering fruit.

The finish on acids and tannins is modest, sweet, peppery and balanced. Interesting melange. Three stars out of five.
