*** $ La Petite Tour Sauvignon Blanc, 2006, CA - Wine Review and Rating

Check out Sauvignon Blanc at Amazon

Original Review, June, 2008: La Petite Tour Sauvignon Blanc, 2006, California, is part of the "Wine Insiders" deal. In the glass, it is light yellow/gold. The grassy aromas characteristic of sauvignon blanc are only apparent when you climb over the glass. No suggestion of power in that.

But let's see what the palate delivers... There you get a modest, balanced, round and grassy/ citrus/ fruity impact throughout your mouth, with a touch of acids. Pleasant, not powerful, not memorable. That will rate two stars out of five, since I would not chase it down again. But I add a plus for its pleasantness. That actually makes it a decent value at its remarkable price as part of the Wine Insiders package.

Updated review, a year and a half later, December, 2009:

Colors have held consistent, light gold. Aromas are now funky of old hay, with a touch of butterscotch. Now the palate is slick butterscotch candy, not too sweet. Light acids bring an element of sweet cream into the cheeks. Totally different experience at this point, but I would bring it to a full three stars. No suggestions to wait any longer to try, however, this is ready NOW. Great value.
