** $ Leaping Horse Merlot, 2006, CA - Review and Rating

Review: The Leaping Horse Merlot, 2006, from California is a "practically free", mass market merlot.

In the glass, it is medium/light red, very pinot noir-esque. Aroma is pretty light and bright too, very shy. The palate comes with acids in the middle, raspberry sweetness and acids around the edges. Tiny bit of fig on the modest finish. It doesn't seem to be trying to be anything but drinkable... and, yes, drinkability it attains. Two stars out of five.
