***+ $$$ Hope & Grace Pinot Noir Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, 2006, Santa Lucia Highlands, Monterey, CA - Review and Rating

LIVE Review: In the glass, the Hope & Grace Pinot Noir Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, 2006, shows as medium deep red. Aroma almost has the depth of a syrah, though with the cherry character of the pinot grape. A bit of oak is noticeable. On the palate, a full middle attack, almost chocolately, appears at first. That takes a very long time to settle, chocolate candy slowing melting along the sides of your cheeks. Tannins and acids are there too, but the still-bright chocolate fruit is the star. Impressive, even if not typically pinot-esque. Three stars with a plus out of five, because four stars wouyld have required me feeling I wouldn't try another pinot noir after this one, but I know I would. .
