Original Review:

By way of background: Chateau Haut-Bailly Grand Cru Classe from the Pessac-Leognan region of Bordeaux represents a 28 hectares site that produces 150,000 bottles.  For 2007, the blend was 65% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot and 10% cabernet franc, aged in 50% new oak.

In the glass: Chateau Haut-Bailly shows as light-medium red in the glass.

On the nose: Poured without a decant and swirled vigorously, this bordeaux smells of light, old gym socks (definitely old world), with a hint of perfune.

On the palate: The palate is tight, bright and full of sour red cherry.

And the finish: Spits out acids with the bits of fruit.

In summary:  Rates two stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
