Original Tasting and Review:

By way of background: This is Castello D'Albola Acciaiolo, IGT Toscana, 2005, a cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese blend.

In the glass: Castello D'Albola Acciaiolo shows as dark red in the glass, opaque to within an inch of the edge.

On the nose: Poured with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, this Tuscan blend sports a perfumed, oaky nose, showing pine and vanilla scents.

On the palate: The first element on the palate is a deep, luscious, dusty style, bringing nutmeg into the equation.  Then a full, intense, multilayered palate unfolds, prickling your tongue and upper palate with some acids, but leaving a deep dark chocolate covered prunes as a more primary sensation.

And the wrap-up: The finish is measured in minutes.

In summary: Overall, impressive experience.  I noted, however, that much of the compelling aroma fades after just a little while in the glass. Rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
