Original Tasting and Review:

By way of background: Villa des Anges Cabernet Sauvignon is called a Vin de Pays d'Oc from the Languedoc region of France. The 2008 vintage is finished at 13.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Villa des Anges shows as dark magenta in the glass, opaque to within an inch of the edge.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, this French cabernet sauvignon offers a sweet, deep cherry plus Indian spices nose.

On the palate: The first element on the palate is a smooth and full red robe of fruits.  Then sparkly red currants move to the roof of your mouth.

And the wrap-up: The finish is crisp, mid-length and berry-based.

In summary: Overall, a balanced, lightly furry experience. Rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale. Great value at bargain price.

Following a multi-hour decant: Villa des Anges held up perfectly well, not changing in aroma or flavors.

Updated review, over two years later, now four years from vintage date, April, 2012:   The nose is soft, plumy with hints of old world bramble and spice.   Soft, fresh and red-berry based.  Nicely balanced and ready to drink.  Remains a best value.
