Original Tasting and Review, March, 2010:

By way of background: Wyatt Cabernet Sauvignon is built of fruit obtained from various California vineyards. The 2008 vintage is finished at 14.7% alcohol.

In the glass: Wyatt shows as deep ruby red in the glass.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, this Cali cab offers a sweet, fruity nose with some blackcurrant.

On the palate: The first element on the palate is a full, sweet mid-palate offering, with fruits and concord cherries.

And the wrap-up: The finish is sweet and fast.

In summary: Overall, fun but lacking distinction. Rates two stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for its pleasantness.  Decent everyday value.

Following a several-hour decant:  This becomes slightly darker, with richer overtones, same generally fun style.

Updated Review, July, 2010:   Now medium deep red in the glass, both purple and brick at the edges.  Aromas are sweet, bright and peppery.  An acid-driven perfumed purple fruit smack in the middle of your mouth.  Consistent score.

Following long decant: three days under vacuum in partially-filled bottle:  Same sweet and peppery nose, but the palate has mellowed and knitted, bringing this to three stars, and making it a full-fledged best value at its bargain price.
