By way of background: Ravenswood Vintner's Blend Cabernet Sauvignon is Ravenswood's entry-level California cabernet. The 2006 vintage is finished at 13.5% alcohol.

Original Tasting and Review, May, 2010:

In the glass: Ravenswood Vintner's Blend Cabernet Sauvignon shows as medium deep red in the glass, not turning opaque at any point.   On the nose: Poured cool and swirled vigorously, this Cali cab shows a deep and classic cabernet fruit, not terribly intense, and slightly oaked.

On the palate: The first elements on the palate are medium-weight blackish red berry fruit, a hint of prunes and some light tannins.  A medium dark-berry tone takes over.

And the wrap-up: The finish is moderately long, trailing to just a hint of tannins in the cheek.

In summary: Overall, a solid, medium-weight, classic cabernet experience, not complex, but not painfully simple either.  Rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scalemaking this a great value at its entry-level price.

Updated review, almost two years later, March, 2012:    Consistent color.  The nose is turning slightly to vegetable - broccoli and cauliflower.  Black prunes, lightly sweet, show on the palate.   Drink up, don't age any longer.
