Original Tasting and Review:

By way of background: Bodegas Senoria de Sarria Moscatel from Navarra, Spain, is made from small grain muscat grapes. The 2009 vintage is finished at 15% alcohol.

In the glass: Senoria de Sarria Moscatel shows as clear vanilla in the glass.

On the nose: Poured quite cool and swirled vigorously, this Spanish muscat shows sweet and clean stone fruits, apples, pears, sweet light raisins and lemon.

On the palate: The first elements on the palate are a luscious, thick, sweet lemonade, adding side elements of just slightly acidic lemon plus white roses, raisin and butterscotch hints.  The liqueur sits in your cheeks and consciousness for a full minute, continuing to pump out its perfectly balanced acid plus sweet liqueur combination.

In summary: Overall, a luscious sweet sipper.  Rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Awesome muscat.  I can't imagine running to another dessert wine in a given evening.
