Initial review, by way of background: This is Levendi Sweetwater Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa, CA, 2005, finished at 14.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep magenta, a bit of brick at the edge, opaque in the center.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, full, deep and balanced aromas of aged fruit and supporting oak, just a hint of raspberry compote coming in along the sides.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are a balanced and bright red-fruited middle, supported by smooth tannins and a hard-candy-like glycerin coating.  Smooth acids lift the finish for a quick but clean burst.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for intensity.  Also shows good promise for the future.

With long decant, several days kept cool in partially filled bottle under vacuum:  The aroma has held consistent - however, edging just the slightest bit towards tired and oxidized.  Palate is consistent too, even better balanced.  Even longer decant, several more days kept cool with no vacuum:  Aroma the same: beefy - but tired - blood.  Now the palate is offering some underlying sweetness in the middle - a nice addition to the mix.
