Initial review, by way of background: This is Zachys White Wine, Blanc de Blancs, France, NV but purchased in 2009.  This "practically free" Don Zacharia Selection came in a one litre bottle and is finished at 12.% alcohol.

In the glass: This is clear with a bold, bright yellow cast.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, this house blend white wine shows a shy but interesting mushroom funk on top of sleeker fruit.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are a sweet and slightly effervescent mouth feel, with very light acids buttressing the sugars.  Fruit takes a background, but for flavors think along the lines of diluted peaches and wisps of butterscotch.

In summary: Overall, a pleasant - though not distinctive - experience which rates two stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for pleasant accessibility. Good value at its crazy low pricing.

Following long decant, several days under vacuum in partially filled bottle:  just the effervescence is gone... all else is intact.
