Wine Review & Rating: ***+ Domaine Martin Premiere Cuvee Bourgogne (White Burgundy), 2008

Initial review, by way of background: This is Domaine Martin Premiere Cuvee Bourgogne (White Burgundy), 2008.  This is a certified organic wine produced in the south of Burgundy, in vineyards built heavily of pink sandstone.

In the glass: Light vanilla with hints of yellow and green.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, a fruity chardonnay element comes through first, but then clean eggshells and salty sea breezes bright any entirely different note to the nose.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate build an elegant, full, round body, which is nicely poised between roundness and minerality.  You can feel the delicious tension.

In summary: Overall, rates three  stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for its wonderful poise.
