By way of background, opening thoughts: Liebfraumilch is one of the first wines I enjoyed from my youth - it was probably the first wine I tried that wasn't fizzy or made from apples.  It has been an exceptionally long time since I've regularly enjoyed Liebfraumilch, so it will be interesting to see what several decades have done to my tastes.

Original tasting and review : This is Peter Mertes Liebfraumilch, Pfalz, Germany, 2009, finished at 9.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Clear, light hay yellow.

On the nose: Poured quite cool and swirled vigorously, shows light, sweet lime.  From the aroma, seems like this will be sweet and quite friendly.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact soft, gentle sugars with hints of lightly acidic citrus with a tiny touch of bitters.  Finishes fast but extremely clean.

In summary: Overall, rates two stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for its gentle and ultra-friendly nature.
