By way of background, opening thoughts: Portugal is an origin for a wide variety of dry red and white wines in recent years.  Today we are assessing a white wine from the Vinho Verde region.

Original tasting and review : This is Andreza Vinho Verde Loureiro Escolha, Portugal, 2006, finished at 12.% alcohol.  This is a 100% loureiro grape selection, aged on its lees for over four months.

In the glass:  Brilliant light gold.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows mineral light butterscotch with clear jabs of stainless steel.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact balanced, full, sweet yet lifted stainless steel, light white grapes.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for balanced, mineral lusciousness.  Best value at a bargain price.

Following long decant, one day kept cool in partially filled bottle:  I'm not recommending a decant for this, but circumstances allowed me one.  Let's see what happens:  The nose is similar, but the stainless steel jabs are missing.   The palate has hold fast as well.  That is a good sign for any additional time in the bottle, and somewhat surprising as well.
