By way of background, opening thoughts: Sonoma and cabernet sauvignon go together like hand in glove.  Let's try one!

Original tasting and review : This is Korbin Kameron Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Valley, CA, 2005, finished at 14.6% alcohol.

In the glass: Korbin Kameron cab is medium deep ruddy red.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature from a 50ml tasting bottle and swirled vigorously, shows bold, mentholated deep red cherry fruit, with elements of pine needles and eucalyptus.   From the aroma, seems like this will be bold and poignant.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact both sleek and gritty in feel, bringing black cherry in a full yet still tangy wrapper.  Solid tannins frame the experience, with a distinct charge of black charcoal in the mix.  Finish lingers without cloying.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Earns a plus for potent balance.  Will likely enjoy some additional time in bottle.  Following long decant, full day in partially filled bottle at room temperature:  Consistent in both aromas and palate.  Held fast with the air time.

Wine Enthusiast gave 91 points and said, "Lush and dramatic. Shows intense flavors of black currants and cedar, wrapped into extremely fine tannins and liberally enhanced with sweet, smoky oak. Very good, but young and fresh."
