By way of background, opening thoughts: This wine was introduced as part of the Glass of Italy program.

Original tasting and review : This is Marco Donati Teroldego Rotaliano DOC, Trentino, Italy, 2009, finished at 13.% alcohol.  For those - like me - formerly unaccustomed to this style, "Teroldego" is the grape variety, which comprises 100% of this wine.

In the glass: Deep, dark burgundy, opaque from within a quarter inch of the edge of the glass.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows clean, bold, fruit in a Cru Beaujolais-style, for those more familiar with French varietals.  It does offer a deep and perfumed element.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact black flowers with a mineral core.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
