By way of background, opening thoughts: California and cabernet sauvignon - what could be more natural a pairing?

Original tasting and review, July, 2011: This is Melanto Terrace Cabernet Sauvignon, California, NV, finished at 13.5% alcohol.

In the glass:  Medium deep red.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows deep, sweet, aromatic blackberries and red currants. Seems ready to be full and sweet.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact full, soft, sweet ripe blackberries with just a touch of lightening acids.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  This is quite enjoyable, but it's just a bit too generic to warrant a plus.

Updated review, over a year later, August, 2012 :  Deep ruby in the glass.  Still full and sweet combo of red and black berries on the nose.   Consistent palate too.  Full, but dry, and with timid aromatics on the palate.
