Original tasting and review, July, 2011 : This is Melanto Terrace Zinfandel, California, non-vintage, finished at 1.% alcohol.
In the glass: Medium deep ruddy red.
On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows sweet deep red aroma, with sweet red pepper.
In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for sweet and peppery balance. Following long decant, two days kept cool in partially filled bottle: Still full, rich and aromatic on the nose, expressing some motor oil now. Sweet but now generic on the palate, would lose its plus. Drink fresh.

Updated review, over a year later, August, 2012: Color and aromas have held entirely consistent. Sweet, full, soft-pepper palate remains. Very balanced, soft and aromatic finish. Touches four stars. Becomes a best value.
