By way of background, opening thoughts: An increasing number of "negociants" now seem to be procuring wine from around the world, then labeling and distributing regionally or locally.  Here is a negociat label providing cabernet sauvignon from Chile.  The cork is explicit about this, saying, "Chilean Export Wine".

Original tasting and review, July, 2011: This is The Sommelier's Collection Cabernet Sauvignon, Cachapoal Valley, Chile, 2007, finished at 13.2% alcohol.  It was produced by Vina Machali.

In the glass: Black magenta, opaque from about an eighth of an inch from the edge of the glass.  On that edge, shows brick highlights.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows soft fruit and vegetables, almost overripe.  From the aroma, seems like this will be soft and perhaps too vegetable.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact sweet, soft, round, dry and full in the mid-palate, with that definite vegetable tone of broccoli and cauliflower casserole.  The finish is bold with dark fruit and acids.  Unfortunately, the vegetable elements create too much diversion to pick up the other elements of the wine, which seem generally sound.  (It is possible this may have been a distribution failure somewhere along the channel. Obtained from winelibrary.com, where other wines in the same shipment seemed fine.)

In summary: Overall, rates one star on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for some strong underlying elements. Following long decant, full day in partially filled bottle at cool room temperature:  Consistent aroma and palate.  Still too much vegetable.

Updated review, over a year later, August, 2012:  Consistent color and overripe nose.  Full, rich, deep fruit on the palate, along with too much broccoli and cauliflower.  What a shame!
