By way of background, opening thoughts: In the early 1980's Cosentino Winery developed this white wine blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon and has offered it for nearly three decades.

This is Cosentino Winery The Novelist White Meritage, California, 2005, finished at 14.4% alcohol, a whopper number for a dry white wine.

Inspired by this wine, August, 2015:  Slipping into a robe made entirely of white grape skins, jumping onto a slip 'n slide!

Original tasting and review, October, 2011:

In the glass: Light golden yellow.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows deep hay with light funk and sweetness.  From the aroma, seems like this will be tangy, slick, dry and full.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact sleek, round and much sweeter in feel than anticipated.  Soft ripe pear and peaches in a wrapper of solid minerality.  Clean finish trails away slowly to a whisper.

In summary: Overall, rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this a best value.  This has held its six years of age like a champion.

Following long decant, five days kept cool in partially filled bottle, under vacuum: Subtle pear on the nose.  Palate has held to consistent elements.  This is a remarkable ager for a California white wine.
