Quickie review: ****+ $$$$$ Clos Mogador Priorat, Spain, 2008

Find prices and retail availability for Clos Mogador Priorat.

About quickie reviews: These review are made on the run, typically at large wine tastings, where the opportunity to settle in with a wine is limited.  Nonetheless, key elements on the nose or palate are indicated, along with Spirit of Wine rating.

Quickie tasting notes:  Clos Mogador Priorat, Spain, 2008, is a blend of old vine grenache (garnacha), cabernet sauvignon, syrah, pinot noir, mourvedre and merlot.  It brings a mature deep fruit to the nose.  On the palate, it is balanced and full of fruit, with a powerful underlying sleekness.

Overall: Rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for intense pleasure.  It's pricing, however, will surely scare away the faint of heart.
