Original tasting and review : This is JT Cellars Petite Sirah, Lodi, California, 2006, finished at 13.9% alcohol.
In the glass: Deep, almost black red, opaque from about a half inch in from the edge.
On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows deep purple ink. From the aroma, seems like this will be thick and perhaps tannic.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact full, soft and plush on the mid-palate, with purple plumy ink aspects. The sip progresses towards a balance of acid and fruit and finishes quite clean.
In summary: Overall, bold, rich and bright experience rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, rating a "best value" at its bargain price point.
Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle: Softer, funky ink on the nose, and the palate remains plush, but moving towards lightly oxidized.
