By way of background, opening thoughts: Luna di Luna offers this cabernet sauvignon / merlot blend at a "practically free" price for a 1.5 litre bottle, encapsulated in vivid red.  The Italian-originblend from Delle Venezie is 60% merlot and 40% cabernet.

Original tasting and review : This is Luna di Luna Merlot Cabernet, Delle Venezie, Italy, 2009, finished at a mere 12.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium red, with light flecks of purple at the edge.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows light fruit with hints of dark charcoal.  From the aroma, seems like this will be simple and bright.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact gentle and dry on the palate, with subdued fruit in a lightly dark charcoal frame.  Not a sipping wine, solid as an accompanying drink with light red meats.  Clean finish.

In summary: Overall, shows a clean character throughout and rates two stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.

Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle: Almost raspberry candy on the nose.  Little bits of light red fruit are now coming across on the palate.  The air time has improved things, providing a plus for its clean, gentle frame.
