By way of background, opening thoughts: Spring in the northeast United States is a wonderful time to begin considering the lightly chilled, generally lightly sweet wines from the muscat grape, often called moscato.  Widely available in Italy (as moscato), the grape is finding a friendly home in California as well.  This week we will be sampling and reviewing a number of wines from Quady Winery in Madera, California, which specializes in the production of lightly-sweet to dessert-style wines.  Review samples were provided by Quady.  The Electra wines were fermented cool and chilled to halt fermentation.

Original tasting and review : This is Electra Moscato Orange Muscat Wine, California, 2010, finished at a quaffable 4.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Pale yellow with hints of olive and a noticeable effervescence.

On the nose: Poured cool and swirled vigorously, Electra Moscato loses it bubbles and light, delicate, sweet grasses with slight spikes of pleasant, savory petroleum.  (Have you ever tried "pleasant, savory petroleum"?!  Well, try this and you'll have an opportunity!)  From the aroma, seems like this will be unique and spicy-sweet.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact perky and mouth-filling.  An effervescent lift brings the perkiness and the sweet savory petroleum brings the mouth-filling elements.  Sweet hay and soft citrus form the flavor elements.  The finish is relatively clean considering the residual sugar.  Just enough acidity to bring you back for the next sip.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a big plus for its harmonious and pleasant nature.  Best value at its attractive price-point.
