By way of background, opening thoughts: Ribera del Duero red wines from Spain often are available in the States at attractive pricing.  This one comes at a value price, despite having achieved a 90 point score with Wine Spectator.  Let's give it a try after some time in the cellar...

Original tasting and review : This is Torres Celeste 7:00 PM, Ribera del Duero, Spain, 2006, finished at 13.% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep burgundy.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows soft and funky deep red fruit.    From the aroma, seems like this will be smooth and earthy.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact surprisingly aromatic, in a bright red inky way.  Fun, bright red fruit, friendly acids and a clean, satisfying finish.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a plus for depth on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, a good value at its attractive price.  Feels like it is precisely at its peak now, six years from vintage date.

Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle: Consistent nose.  The palate has lost much of its inky nature, though the fruit remains bright red and clean.
